Winter in the Hoek

Winter, believe it or not!

Winter has been very kind so far and on another beautiful warm day Barbs and I (Simone, not Peter) missioned out to Jonkershoek for another great hike. Stunning views in a stunning valley! And the flowers were just as incredible!

After huffing and puffing up Kurktrekker we decided to explore a little bit and climb Guardian Peak bundu bashing style!

Standing on top
admiring the view
we felt tempted
to take on the
longer route
past Swartboskloof.
A good choice;
the trail passed
through incredible
fynbos flowers and
stunning views of
Jonkershoek valley,
Helderberg Mountains
and False Bay.
stunning view!

Coming up to
the top we were
rewarded the first
time with a glimpse
of the sea.
Sheer mountain
cliffs in front of us
just made us feel
rather small.

The viewpoint was spectacular, with views of False Bay and the Helderberg Mountains all the way to Cape Town. Stunning!

Swartboskloof

As lovely as
the views
down Swartboskloof
were, the route
was rather tough.
Loose rocks
and steep.
In the end,
we just wanted
it to end.

a beautiful ending to an awesome day!
