cape peninsula extravaganza

Autumn has long passed and it is mid winter now. Waiting for the storms and the cold to still come I am enjoying hiking a lot these days in the beautiful Cape.
Some impressions of two hikes I did around Kalk Bay a few months ago.
just beautiful

A wonderful hike out of Kalk Bay straight up the mountain, through lovely fynbos and the Spes Bona Forest. Stunning views of the Hottentot Holland Mountain Range at the top made us linger a little bit longer before heading to the Amphitheatre and out the Echo Valley!

stunning valley!

and all the way to Nordhoek
the Hottentot Holland's

Our next hike was going to be the Swartkop Peak, along the ridge just above Simon's Town.
Kalk Bay harbour and Swartkop Peak in the back
Climbing up to the ridge was rewarded with stunning views of Cape Point and once again the Hottentot Holland's. And I never got tired of them!

First break and spotting of Table Mountain at the top of the ridge

a reminder of the fire a few years back
Now it's walking along the ridge and enjoying the views before the last ascent to the peak.

happy faces!
